About
Hog Hill
Hog Hill Events happen 3 times a year and are a fantastic opportunity to ride with a huge cross-section of the UK longboard scene: from beginners and those looking to learn through to seasoned racers dusting off the cobwebs and catching up with friends.
Skate your style - freeride, race, slide, dance, slalom. or just chill out and watch other people do the hard work. Come along to the campsite in the evening and chill out with the other skaters in a great atmosphere - when we're at Lambourne end, expect a camp fire and some live music as well!
Freeride continues through racing on Sunday afternoon, so you can choose to test your mettle and get some more pack riding experience before hitting up the European freerides and races, or just enjoy jamming down the hill with your mates.
Helmets are mandatory while skating (including commuting around and flatland jam!) Helmets and gloves while sliding and skating the main hill, and Full Faces Mandatory for racing (we recommend kneepads) . We take safety seriously, as does our insurers (legal requirement) so we're well covered as lang as you guys keep your lids on! If you fall on a different part (a bit without pads) then St John's Ambulance will be there to patch you up.
Mid-day Saturday and All-day Sunday on
20th and 21st May 2017

About
The Crackling
The Crackling is our first outing of the year, dusting off those cobwebs and getting you all back on the skate wagon!
With any luck a load of you will be able to have a hard-earned break from your revision to make it along to this - this is normally a bit more chilled than the other two, so it's a good starter if you've not been before to get involved and get to know everyone before summer hits.
Camping this year will be at Lambourne end - remember - all camping is arranged through us, so don't go ringing up the centre - Timmy's your man for info!
There's a pub round the corner and if you've not yet been, the Rom Skatepark is a short car journey away so it's worth checking that out once the track closes and before you curl up in a sleeping bag for the night.
Longboards of EVERY description. Always open!
From the parking lots of Santa Monica to the original Burnside Skatepark, Kryptonics has been fuelling the skateboard scene since 1976.

Slalom is one of the original skateboarding disciplines. The aim of the UKSSA is to promote slalom and organise races around the country. Members regularly compete in races overseas.
A timed sport that involves avoiding cones either on flat land with small-spacing (tight), downhill with more varied spacing (hybrid) or steeply downhill with large,spread-out spacing (giant). Most slalom boards range in size related to the style of slalom, from 30” to 36”; utilize asymmetrical concave (more in front) with a non-functional kicktail or footrest at the back and toe-stops up front. The standard is for fast-turning CNCed trucks and 65-77mm wheels with durometers ranging 77A-85A.
A specialised discipline with some crossover to street-skating gear, sliding is the intentional breaking of traction on steep hills to accomplish tricks that modify the board’s movement down the fall line. Much more than “power sliding,” these tricks can include stalls, rotations and the use of gloves with pucks for hand-on-the-pavement moves. The decks are usually 34” to 38” with twin kicks and hard, smaller wheels on conventional trucks, but also on 70mm or larger “soft wheels.”
A term used to describe any style of skating downhill that includes drifting, sliding, hard carves and aggressive manoeuvres. Any board a skater is comfortable with that affords the handling and agility can work for a freeride board. Generally involves wheels intended for sliding and thrashing, typically 70-76mm in diameter, and 78A-89A durometer.
The sport of getting down a hill as fast as possible. Standard downhill (or “DH”) decks are rigid for stability, with moderate concave, no kicktail and lengths typically ranging from 36” to 46”. Inverted-style trucks are used, in drop-through and top-mount configurations with wheels 70-100mm in diameter and 78A-89A durometer.
Freestyle skateboarding (or freestyle) is one of the oldest styles of skateboarding and was intermittently popular from the 1960s until the early 1990s, when the final, large-scale professional freestyle skateboarding competition was held. The emphasis in freestyle is technical flat ground skateboarding. Often a freestyler will need little more than a board and a smooth, flat surface. Music and choreography have always been an essential part of the professional freestyle routine.
Street luge was born in Southern California as downhill skateboarders found they could reach faster speeds by lying down on their skateboards. This early form of the sport is now referred to as "classic luge." While no longer a sport in either the X Games or Gravity Games, street luge is a burgeoning sport in numerous countries with competitions around the globe. There are approximately 1200 active street luge riders in the world.
